We’re looking for a seasoned cook to step into a fast-paced kitchen at a well-established coastal venue in Far North Queensland—someone who can handle the pressure, work across all sections, and deliver consistently strong service with particular focus on cooking steaks and seafood and pan dishes.
This is a hands-on role suited to a capable, self-reliant cook who thrives in a structured but high-output kitchen.
You’ll be stepping into a position that requires confidence across all sections, strong time management, and the ability to maintain consistency.
Package: (CASUAL ROLE-MONDAY-FRIDAY)
- $36.81 per hour Monday – Friday
- $39.76 per hour After 7pm-Monday-Friday
- Split shifts – lunch and dinner

- Shared Staff house off site, own room, shared living areas & bathroom
This is a hands-on role for a confident Cook who enjoys variety and can work independently across all areas of the kitchen. You’ll support the Head Chef across a busy service, with 3–4 days focused on cooking and 1–2 days assisting as a Kitchen Hand.
The Role
Working alongside the Head Chef, you’ll be responsible for preparing and delivering quality bistro-style meals while keeping the kitchen organised, clean and running efficiently.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing, cooking and presenting a variety of bistro-style dishes
- Confidently cooking steaks, seafood and pan dishes
- Completing daily food preparation, with a strong focus on maintaining quality and consistency
- Working independently across all sections of the kitchen when required
- Assisting with kitchen hand duties, including dishes, cleaning and kitchen close-downs
- Supporting the wider kitchen team wherever needed
- Maintaining high standards of food presentation and customer service
- Working efficiently during busy lunch and dinner services
- Communicating clearly and professionally with customers and fellow team members
- Assisting with in-house conference and function catering
- Preparing takeaway food for off-site functions and conferences
- Following all workplace health and safety requirements
- Maintaining strict food hygiene and safety standards
We’re seeking a reliable and capable Cook who is comfortable taking responsibility in the kitchen and enjoys being part of a varied, hands-on role.
To be considered, you’ll need:
- A current Food Safety / Food Handler Certificate
- Previous commercial kitchen experience
- Confidence working independently and across all kitchen sections
- Experience preparing and cooking a variety of meals, including steaks and seafood
- A willingness to undertake Kitchen Hand duties as part of the position
- The ability to work efficiently during busy services
- A minimum 3-month commitment
- A positive, team-focused approach and strong work ethic
The Property
You’ll be based at a well-established coastal hotel featuring accommodation units, landscaped grounds, pool area, restaurant, bar, and conference facilities.
The operation caters to both regular service and event-based trade, offering a varied and engaging work environment.
Telstra and Optus coverage available.
Daily flights operate via Qantas.
