Motel Management Couple – Far North Queensland
We are seeking an experienced Motel Management Couple for a small, island-based motel located off the coast of Far North Queensland.
The property primarily caters to corporate clients, along with some leisure guests visiting the island, and offers self-contained accommodation for both short and long-term stays.
This role is best suited to a highly hands-on couple who are comfortable in a physically demanding environment, particularly with the day-to-day requirements of housekeeping. The successful couple will share responsibility across all areas of the operation including reception, cleaning of rooms, linen management, and light grounds work. This is not a purely administrative role and active involvement in the daily operations is essential.
The location offers a unique blend of culture, history, and untouched natural beauty, supported by a friendly and welcoming local community. Enjoy fantastic fishing, stunning sunsets, and warm tropical weather while living and working in a truly distinctive setting. The surrounding waters are home to local wildlife, including crocodiles, so the area is best enjoyed for its fishing and scenic beauty rather than swimming.
As this is a small motel with only one additional employee, managers should be aware that they will only occasionally have the same day off together.

- $160,000 Combined Salary
- Free onsite Accommodation including utilities
- 2 Bedroom unit
Duties:
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the motel in a highly hands-on capacity, ensuring exceptional guest service and consistently high cleanliness standards across the property
• Manage all front office functions including guest arrivals and departures, reservations, phone enquiries, social media updates, invoicing and general accounts
• Undertake the cleaning and servicing of guest rooms, including full housekeeping and laundry responsibilities
• Maintain the presentation of the grounds, including basic lawn and garden care
• Coordinate guest airport transfers as required
• Supervise and roster the onsite team member
• Assist across all areas of the business as needed, with a flexible and team-focused approach
Candidate Requirements:
• Proven experience in a similar, hands-on motel or accommodation management role
• Ability to live and work in a remote, island-based location
• A genuine sense of ownership, with the ability to manage the property as if it were your own
• A strong commitment to delivering consistently high standards of customer service
• Willingness to actively contribute across all areas of the operation, including physically demanding housekeeping duties
• Capacity to commit to a minimum of 12 months
