Kitchen Supervisor – East Coast Tasmania
Immediate Start | $75,000–$85,000
An experienced, hands-on Kitchen Supervisor is required to lead a busy tavern kitchen on Tasmania’s beautiful East Coast. This role is suited to a confident kitchen professional with strong cooking skills, proven experience supervising a small team, and the ability to manage day-to-day kitchen operations while maintaining quality, consistency and food safety standards.
Located in a relaxed beachside town renowned for its exceptional seafood and close proximity to some of Tasmania’s most stunning national parks, this is an opportunity to take on a key leadership role in a well-established hospitality venue catering to locals, in-house guests and visitors to the region.
The Package:
- Salary: $75,000–$85,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Accommodation: $150 per week in a shared staff house
- Immediate start available
- Full Telstra mobile coverage
- Staff internet available
The Role
You will oversee the daily operation of a busy kitchen and work alongside your team in a hands-on capacity.
Responsibilities will include:
- Hands-on cooking and food preparation
- Overseeing all aspects of daily kitchen operations
- Supervising approximately five chefs, cooks and kitchen hands
- Rostering and coordinating kitchen staff efficiently
- Stock control, ordering and stock rotation
- Maintaining food quality, consistency and presentation standards
- Ensuring the kitchen is clean, organised and operating in line with food safety requirements
- Maintaining WHS compliance
- Supporting the wider venue operation and completing other duties as required
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in a similar Kitchen Supervisor, Sous Chef or kitchen leadership role
- Strong hands-on cooking skills and the ability to lead by example
- Experience supervising and coordinating a small kitchen team
- Sound knowledge of stock control, ordering and kitchen administration
- Strong organisational and rostering skills
- A commitment to maintaining high food quality, cleanliness and consistency
- A current Food Safety Supervisor qualification
- A current driver’s licence and own transport, preferably
- A current police clearance, or the ability to obtain one
The town is accessible via public transport from Hobart or Launceston.
