An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Duty Manager with strong pub, tavern or hotel experience to join an iconic venue in Tropical North Queensland. This is a genuinely hands-on leadership role for someone confident managing busy shifts, leading a team and working across bar, bistro, gaming and accommodation operations.

The Opportunity
We’re looking for an energetic and capable Duty Manager to work alongside the Venue Manager and play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the hotel.
This is a hands-on, floor-based management position where you’ll be involved in the action rather than sitting behind a desk. You’ll take ownership of your shifts, support your team and ensure the venue consistently delivers friendly, efficient service.
From busy bar and bistro periods through to gaming, accommodation and customer service, you’ll be a confident all-rounder who can step in wherever required.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening and closing the venue
- Taking responsibility for the smooth running of shifts
- Providing hands-on bar and bistro service
- Supervising, supporting and motivating staff
- Managing daily venue operations
- Cash handling and reconciliations
- Overseeing TAB, Keno and gaming operations
- Assisting with accommodation bookings, check-ins and check-outs
- Maintaining excellent customer service and venue presentation
- Building strong relationships with locals, travellers and visitors
- Supporting the Venue Manager with day-to-day hotel operations
- Assisting wherever required to keep the venue running smoothly
About You
You’ll be an experienced hospitality professional who enjoys leading from the floor and thrives in a busy, customer-focused environment.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Duty Manager, Supervisor or similar hospitality management role
- Strong experience within a pub, tavern or hotel environment
- A hands-on approach and confidence leading a team during busy service periods
- Experience across bar, bistro and gaming operations
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- The ability to confidently supervise, motivate and support a small team
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to take ownership of a shift
- A reliable, adaptable and team-focused attitude
- A genuine interest in regional hospitality and community-focused venues
- Current QLD RMLV, Approved Manager Licence, CLO, RSA and RSG
