Cook / Chef – Remote South Australia
Commencing approximately 10th-16th September 2026
Are you an experienced Cook or Chef with strong short order and à la carte skills, looking for your next long-term hospitality opportunity? Join a well-established, multi-faceted tourist venue in Remote South Australia, where you’ll play a key role in delivering quality meals to travellers, guests and staff in a fast-paced, supportive kitchen environment.
This is a live-in, remote position suited to someone who enjoys working within a small team, takes pride in producing consistently high-quality meals, and is happy to pitch in where needed. The venue operates 24 hours a day and includes a fuel station, retail outlet, bar, restaurant, motel and caravan park, creating a busy and varied workplace.
Package
Casual Position
- $36.85 per hour Monday-Friday
- $48.07 per hour Saturday & Sunday
- Accommodation & Meals: $170 per week
- Private bedroom with shared bathroom facilities
About the Role
As the Cook / Chef, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking and presenting quality meals while supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of the kitchen. Working alongside a Kitchen Hand, you’ll help maintain high food standards, deliver excellent service during busy periods and ensure the kitchen operates smoothly and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of menu items including breakfasts, short order meals, mains, sides and desserts
- Deliver consistent, high-quality meals during busy service periods
- Work confidently across all areas of the kitchen
- Prepare ingredients including chopping, slicing, marinating and portioning
- Maintain food quality, presentation and portion control standards
- Minimise food waste through effective stock management
- Run kitchen service with the assistance of a Kitchen Hand
- Maintain a clean, organised and food-safe kitchen
- Assist with general customer service when required
- Undertake other duties as needed to support the team
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced commercial kitchen
- Strong short order and à la carte cooking experience
- The ability to work confidently across all sections of the kitchen
- Bakery or cake-making experience (highly regarded but not essential)
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- A positive, hands-on attitude with a willingness to assist across the venue when required
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- The ability to remain calm and efficient during busy service periods
