Duty Manager – Remote Coastal Far North Queensland 🌴
An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced Duty Manager to join a busy, community-focused hotel in remote Coastal Far North Queensland.
Set amongst one of Australia’s most naturally beautiful and culturally rich regions, this is a hands-on leadership role suited to a confident hospitality professional who thrives in fast-paced venues and enjoys being involved across all aspects of hotel operations.
This is not a step-up role for someone new to management — the venue is seeking a capable and experienced operator with strong supervisory skills, excellent gaming and bar knowledge, and the ability to lead a team while maintaining exceptional customer service standards. With a busy public bar, restaurant, accommodation operations and regular events, no two days are the same.
The property itself features self-contained accommodation units, landscaped gardens, a pool area, onsite restaurant and bar, and conference facilities, all within a vibrant remote coastal community filled with history, culture and stunning natural surroundings.

- Full-Time Salary: $80,000 per annum
- FREE accommodation provided
(Own room in shared offsite staff house including utilities) - 5 duty meals per week

✨ THE ROLE
This is a highly operational, hands-on management position responsible for overseeing evening hotel operations and supporting the overall success of the venue.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel during evening service and in the absence of senior management
- Hands-on involvement across all areas of the venue including bar, restaurant and guest services
- Staff mentoring, supervision and training
- Gaming, TAB and pokies compliance and payouts
- Hotel guest check-ins and reservations after reception hours using Guestpoint
- End-of-night reconciliation of tills and cash handling
- Venue closing procedures and security
- Ensuring RSA and gaming compliance standards are maintained
- Supporting patron and staff safety at all times
- Assisting the Head Chef with kitchen cleaning schedules, records, inspections and labelling compliance
- Ordering bar stock and liaising with suppliers and reps
- Managing promotions, stock rotation and specials
- Weekly and monthly stocktakes
- Management of the wine list
- Coordinating pool competitions and sporting events
✨ ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous Duty Manager, Supervisor or Hospitality Management experience
- Current Queensland RSA and RSG certificates
- Strong leadership skills and ability to work under pressure
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Experience working across bar, gaming and restaurant operations
- A positive, team-focused attitude
- Flexibility to work a Wednesday–Sunday roster
- Previous remote hospitality experience highly regarded
- SWIFTPOS experience desirable
