Head Chef – Central Australia | Remote Northern Territory
A unique opportunity is now available for an experienced and capable Head Chef to lead the kitchen within a busy, multi-faceted hospitality venue in Central Australia. Located in the heart of the Northern Territory’s iconic Red Centre region, this high-volume property services a steady flow of travellers, and overnight guests. The property features onsite motel accommodation, caravan park, bistro dining, public bar and retail outlet.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a confident chef with strong operational experience, excellent stock control knowledge and the ability to lead from the front in a fast-paced remote environment. Working various shifts alongside a close-knit onsite team of staff living and working together on the property, you’ll play a key role in maintaining food quality, kitchen organisation and smooth day-to-day operations across a busy service environment.
The kitchen is open across Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner covering takeaway meals, grab & go items, bakery items, bistro style meals and supplying meals to 20+ staff living and working onsite.

✨ PACKAGE & BENEFITS
- Monday–Friday: $38.35 per hour
- After 7pm Monday–Friday: $41.16 per hour
- Saturday: $46.02 per hour
- Sunday: $53.69 per hour
- Overtime rates after 38 hours

✨ THE ROLE
This is a highly operational role requiring strong leadership, organisation and hands-on cooking ability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Day-to-day management of kitchen operations
- Stock control, ordering and supplier coordination
- Supervising and supporting a kitchen team of 6–8 staff
- Hands-on preparation and cooking of short-order and pub-style meals
- Menu planning and maintaining food consistency
- Catering for small onsite functions and groups
- Ensuring excellent presentation and food quality standards
- Maintaining a clean, organised and compliant kitchen
- Working across a rotating roster of morning, day and evening shifts
The venue offers popular bistro-style meals alongside a range of bakery-style takeaway items using par-baked products.
✨ ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous Head Chef or Senior Chef experience in a fast-paced kitchen
- Strong stock control and ordering experience
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Ability to remain calm and organised under pressure
- Hands-on approach and willingness to lead by example
- Ability to live and work successfully in a remote location
- Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate prior to commencement
