Roadhouse Manager – Remote Northern Territory
Lead a multi-faceted, high-volume roadhouse operation in one of the Northern Territory’s most remote and rewarding locations. This role calls for an experienced, hands-on manager who understands the realities of remote operations—someone who can confidently oversee fuel, retail, bar, accommodation, and food services while leading a small team in an environment where reliability, safety, and sound judgement are essential. Set against dramatic escarpments and vast outback skies, this is a career move for a professional who thrives on responsibility, autonomy, and being at the centre of a critical stop for travellers, truck drivers, and tour groups crossing a demanding landscape.
The roadhouse offers onsite accommodation, campground facilities, a bar, retail shop, and fuel services—providing essential support to those travelling through the region. It’s a place where consistency, efficiency, and a strong team culture make all the difference.
This is a genuinely hands-on role suited to a practical, grounded leader who enjoys working alongside their team and takes pride in running a tight, well-functioning operation.
Package:
- $85,000 – $95,000 salary (dependent on experience)
- Free accommodation and meals
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day roadhouse operations across all departments
- Ensure compliance with liquor licensing and relevant legislation
- Manage daily reconciliations and banking processes
- Recruit, roster, and lead a small, cross-functional team
- Oversee accommodation bookings and guest experience
- Manage stock control, ordering, and fuel levels
- Maintain presentation standards across the site, including housekeeping and grounds
- Complete administrative and reporting tasks using Microsoft Office Suite
- Provide regular performance and operational reports to ownership
- Uphold Workplace Health & Safety standards and procedures
- Ensure a safe environment for staff, guests, and contractors
- Work across all areas of the business as required
About You:
- Proven experience in a similar management role, ideally in a remote or regional setting
- Confident managing multiple revenue streams (fuel, retail, food, accommodation)
- Current driver’s licence and reliable transport
- Valid RSA and Food Safety Supervisor certification
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- A practical, hands-on leadership style
- Food service or cooking experience highly regarded
Additional Information:
- Property is accessible via sealed roads
- Work may be available for a partner (dependent on experience)
