Are you an experienced Short Order Cook with strong café, takeaway and catering skills, looking for a long-term opportunity in Remote Coastal Northern Territory?
We’re seeking a reliable, organised cook who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen, can confidently prepare quality meals under pressure, and is ready to commit to a minimum of six months in a welcoming remote community.
Based in the town’s popular local café, this hands-on role offers a varied menu, early morning starts, and the opportunity to showcase your creativity through daily specials while working alongside a supportive team. The community offers local shops, two supermarkets, takeaway outlets, a police station, swimming pool, and sporting facilities, providing all the essentials for comfortable remote living.

What’s on Offer
- Casual Position
- $35.56 per hour Monday to Friday
- $42.67 per hour Saturday & Sunday
- Free accommodation (employee pays electricity only – approximately $40 per week)
- Private room in a shared, self-contained duplex
- Airfares from Darwin provided on commencement and completion of employment
- Long-term opportunity with a minimum six-month commitment
Your Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a busy takeaway menu
- Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch and café meals
- Create daily specials and prepare main meals for dinner service
- Prepare meals for the onsite food van
- Assist with large-scale catering when required
- Maintain a clean, organised and compliant kitchen
- Work a variety of 10-hour shifts, including early morning starts
- Assist with other kitchen duties as required
About You
- Previous experience as a Short Order Cook is essential
- Experience in catering or high-volume food preparation
- Confident working independently and managing a busy service
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Able to lead or direct other kitchen staff when required
- Willing and able to live and work in a remote location
- Hold, or be able to obtain, a current Food Handler Certificate
