Sous Chef – Outback Queensland
An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced Sous Chef to join one of Outback Queensland’s busiest and most well-regarded hospitality venues.
Located in the heart of Central Western Queensland, this high-volume country pub has built an outstanding reputation for delivering quality bistro-style meals, excellent service and a consistently busy trade.
This role is ideally suited to a confident and highly capable chef with strong grill and service experience who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen environment. You’ll be stepping into a hands-on leadership role within a supportive team, where your ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain high food standards will be highly valued.
With meals, accommodation and Wi-Fi provided onsite, this is also a fantastic opportunity to reduce living expenses while working in a rewarding regional hospitality environment.

- Casual Role
- Monday–Friday: $35.15 per hour
- Saturday: $42.18 per hour
- Sunday: $49.21 per hour

✨ THE ROLE
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation and service of high-quality bistro and à la carte meals
- Working across a busy grill and service section
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen
- Assisting with stock control and ordering
- Supervising, training and mentoring junior kitchen staff
- Covering Head Chef days off as required
- Assisting with general kitchen cleaning and dishes when needed
- Supporting the wider kitchen team during busy service periods
✨ ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong Senior Chef experience
- Excellent grill and high-volume service experience (essential)
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- A hands-on attitude and willingness to assist across all kitchen duties
- Reliable work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
This is an extremely busy venue, so candidates must be confident working in a high-energy kitchen with consistently strong trade.
