Located on the spectacular Gulf of Carpentaria in Queensland, this is an opportunity for an experienced Venue Manager with strong Food & Beverage, gaming, team leadership and commercial management skills to take the reins of a well-established venue with a loyal local following and a strong seasonal tourism trade.
Surrounded by incredible coastal scenery, spectacular sunsets and some of Queensland’s most sought-after fishing, this unique location offers the chance to take on a genuine hands-on leadership position while becoming part of a close-knit regional community.
With a busy visitor season, a strong year-round local customer base and a diverse range of venue operations, this role will suit a confident hospitality professional who thrives on responsibility, enjoys leading from the front and knows how to keep a venue performing at its best.
The Role
As Venue Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the successful day-to-day operation of the hotel.
You’ll lead a small hospitality team, oversee Food & Beverage and gaming operations, maintain high service standards and ensure the venue continues to deliver a welcoming experience for both locals and visitors.
This is a hands-on management role where you’ll be highly visible across the venue, working alongside your team, driving standards and building strong relationships within the local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the venue
- Lead, mentor, roster and develop the hospitality team
- Manage Food & Beverage and gaming operations
- Oversee stock control, purchasing, ordering and supplier relationships
- Monitor margins, stock levels and overall operational performance
- Manage cash handling, reconciliations and daily reporting
- Ensure compliance with liquor, gaming and WHS requirements
- Maintain excellent venue presentation and customer service standards
- Assist with marketing, promotions and special events
- Coordinate entertainment and local activities
- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and the local community
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability and overall venue performance
- Lead by example and remain actively involved in the daily operation of the venue
About You
We’re looking for an experienced, capable and commercially minded hospitality leader who enjoys being hands-on and isn’t afraid to get stuck in.
You’ll ideally bring:
✔ Previous Venue Manager, Hotel Manager or senior pub management experience
✔ Strong Food & Beverage and gaming operational knowledge
✔ Proven team leadership, rostering and staff development skills
✔ Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of venue profitability
✔ Experience with stock control, ordering, cash handling and reporting
✔ Excellent communication and people management skills
✔ A confident, practical approach to problem-solving
✔ The ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions
✔ A genuine interest in becoming part of a regional community
✔ The resilience and adaptability required to live and work in a remote location
✔ A National Police Clearance and Fit2Work clearance, or the ability to obtain these
✔ Current relevant RMLV, Approved Manager and Gaming licences, or willingness to obtain
