Are you an experienced hospitality all-rounder with commercial kitchen experience, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to thrive in a remote community? We are seeking a reliable, hardworking team member to join a busy café and local store in Remote Coastal Northern Territory, where versatility, initiative, and a positive attitude are essential.
This is a varied, hands-on role that combines café service, food preparation, customer interaction, stock handling, and general store duties. If you enjoy working as part of a close-knit team and take pride in delivering friendly service while maintaining high standards, we’d love to hear from you.
The welcoming community offers local shops, two supermarkets, takeaway outlets, a police station, sporting facilities, and a public swimming pool, providing all the essentials for comfortable remote living.
What’s on Offer
- Start Date – End of July
- Casual position
- $35.56 per hour (Monday to Friday)
- $42.67 per hour (Saturday)
- $42.67 per hour (Sunday)
- Overtime rates apply after 38 hours per week
- Free caravan accommodation (employee pays electricity only – approximately $40 per week)
- Return travel assistance from Darwin
- Long-term opportunity with a minimum six-month commitment
Your Responsibilities
- Assist with general kitchen hand duties
- Prepare food and assist with basic cooking
- Serve customers in the café with friendly, efficient service
- Prepare coffee and other beverages
- Operate the cash register and process customer transactions
- Receive, unload, and unpack stock deliveries
- Rotate stock and replenish cold rooms and display fridges
- Maintain a clean, organised kitchen and café environment
- Provide outstanding customer service across both the café and store
- Assist with other general duties as required
About You
To be successful, you will have:
- Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen
- Catering experience (highly regarded)
- Barista experience and confidence preparing coffees
- A current Food Safety Certificate
- A Forklift Licence (preferred but not essential)
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- The ability to multitask and work independently
- A positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed
- The ability to live and work in a remote community for a minimum of six months
Additional Information
- Minimum six-month commitment required
- Accessible by unsealed road from Darwin during the dry season
- Return travel assistance provided from Darwin
- Telstra is the only mobile
